In an effort to ensure municipalities are ready for growth, the provincial government announced the Saskatchewan Infrastructure Growth Initiative in the 2008-09 budget. Through the program, municipalities will be able to access $300 million over four years for five-year, interest-free loans to assist with the cost of lot development to support housing, commercial and industrial construction.

Municipal Advisory Services

The Advisory Services unit provides the following services to municipal governments:

Administrative and technical advice to administrators/councils to support the effective and efficient operation of municipal governments;
Educational programs like the Municipal Leadership Development Program in partnership with SUMA, SARM, SANC, UMAAS and RMAA;
Seminars at annual conventions of SARM, SUMA, PARCS, RMAA and UMAAS; and
Preparation of municipal information manuals, technical bulletins and online documents.
