Did You Know? Saskatchewan municipalities received a 7 per cent increase in revenue sharing in the 2008-09 provincial budget, and a further 8 per cent increase was announced in April of 2008. The government is committed to developing a long-term revenue sharing agreement in consultation with municipalities. In southern Saskatchewan, there are 296 Rural Municipalities (RMs). Within these 296 RMs, there are a total of 172 unincorporated organized hamlets. In northern Saskatchewan, there are 25 incorporated municipalities:
Unincorporated areas of northern Saskatchewan are part of the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District (NSAD) and are administered by the Northern Municipal Services branch. There are 10 northern settlements within the NSAD. |
