From April 1, 2007 to the end of March 31, 2008, the Province of Saskatchewan received 1726 subdivision applications and approved 4251 sites. This is a 72% increase in sites approved over the 2006/07 year of 2468 sites approved.

The Community Planning Branch provides tools and services to assist municipalities with planning and development. We provide professional land-use planning advice and assistance to municipalities, other government departments and the public.

We provide six distinct areas of business in support of the human capacity and regulatory lines of business for Municipal Affairs. These six areas of business are:

  • Adoption of new planning bylaws and certain bylaw amendments;
  • Review of subdivision applications;
  • Municipal requests related to annexations;
  • Formation of planning districts and regional plans for multiple municipalities;
  • Administration of dedicated lands used for parks, walkways, buffers and environmental reserves; and
  • Amendments to legislation and regulations governing planning and development;
