Did You Know? In an effort to ensure municipalities are ready for growth, the provincial government announced the Saskatchewan Infrastructure Growth Initiative in the 2008-09 budget. Through the program, municipalities will be able to access $300 million over four years for five-year, interest-free loans to assist with the cost of lot development to support housing, commercial and industrial construction. Ministry Overview The mandate of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs is to foster a strong system of municipal government. Key partners of the ministry include municipal associations, municipal councils and administrators, community planners and property assessment appraisers. In addition to collaborating with key partners, in carrying out its responsibilities the ministry also works with other provincial ministries and in consultation with the federal government where applicable.
