The mandate of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs is to foster a strong system of municipal government. Key partners of the ministry include municipal associations, municipal councils and administrators, community planners and property assessment appraisers. In addition to collaborating with key partners, in carrying out its responsibilities the ministry also works with other provincial ministries and in consultation with the federal government where applicable.

The Ministry Plan for 2012-13 demonstrates how the Ministry aligns with Government's vision and goals and presents a high level framework for the Ministry of Municipal Affair's activities in 2012-13.
The 2010-11 Annual Report presents the Ministry's activities and results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011. The Ministry's annual report, as required by legislation, is tabled by the Minister responsible with 120 days of the close of the fiscal year.
