Did You Know?

From April 1, 2007 to the end of March 31, 2008, the Province of Saskatchewan received 1726 subdivision applications and approved 4251 sites. This is a 72% increase in sites approved over the 2006/07 year of 2468 sites approved.

The Government of Canada has provided Public Transit Funds to support investment in public transit infrastructure in cities and communities. The Public Transit Funds are allocated to the municipalities based primarily on 2004 ridership figures of existing public transit systems. These funds are intended to result in the environmental outcomes of cleaner air and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The Public Transit Funds are provided under the following two different arrangements:

1. Bilateral Agreement

This program provides approximately $12.5 million in federal public transit funding to the seven cities with existing public transit systems.  See "Related Documents" for further information.

2. Public Transit Capital Trust

This program provides approximately $27.2 million of federal funds to cities to assist them in supporting capital investments in public transit infrastructure.  See "Related Documents" for further information.

The New Deal Secretariat administers both programs.
