 Did You Know? In an effort to ensure municipalities are ready for growth, the provincial government announced the Saskatchewan Infrastructure Growth Initiative in the 2008-09 budget. Through the program, municipalities will be able to access $300 million over four years for five-year, interest-free loans to assist with the cost of lot development to support housing, commercial and industrial construction. Community Planning and Land Use ZoningThe primary legal and administrative means of implementing an official community plan is a zoning bylaw. A zoning bylaw divides a municipality into zoning districts and regulates the development and use of land in those districts. A zoning bylaw permits a council to set local standards for the use and subdivision of land, and helps manage the supply of municipal services and resources to new development.
