From April 1, 2007 to the end of March 31, 2008, the Province of Saskatchewan received 1726 subdivision applications and approved 4251 sites. This is a 72% increase in sites approved over the 2006/07 year of 2468 sites approved.

Assessment Revaluation and Property Tax Policy Workshop

Training Opportunity:

The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) and Advisory Services Unit in co-operation with the Rural Municipal Administrators' Association (RMAA) and Urban Municipal Administrators' Association (UMAAS) will be conducting a series of one-day Assessment Revaluation and Tax Tools Workshops in January, 2009 for rural and urban administrators.

At this seminar, the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency will review:

  • Technical Standards and Policy
  • 2009 Revaluation and Valuation Standards
  • 2009 Valuation Practices, Highlights and Issues and

Advisory Services will review:

  • 2009 Property Tax Policy

Who should attend?

All municipal local government administrators and other municipal staff whose duties include dealing with assessment.

How to register?

Pre-registration is required.

  • Complete the registration form (see "Related Documents" section), indicating that you will be attending.
  • Forward completed registration form and fee ($60.00) payable to "The Workshop Fund" to the appropriate director.
  • Space is limited; register early.

Access and Privacy Training Course for Saskatchewan Local Authorities

The Access and Privacy Course for Saskatchewan Local Authorities is an on-line training course. It will give employees in local authorities a better understanding of the laws that apply to access to records and to protection of personal information and personal health information, along with steps to ensure better compliance with those laws. The course is designed for employees in all local authorities including rural and urban municipal governments, school boards, post-secondary institutions, regional health authorities and other organizations identified in legislation as being a local authority. Employees of all local authorities will learn about:

  • how privacy is important to us all;
  • the laws that apply to local authorities;
  • the obligations of employees, along with simple steps we can to protect the records we handle; and
  • the rights and individuals to access records in the custody or control of a local authority in Saskatchewan.

Municipal Leadership Development Program
