THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE FOURTH AND FINAL INTAKE UNDER SIGI WAS SEPTEMBER 30, 2010.
Program Background The Ministry of Municipal Affairs (MA), in consultation with the Saskatchewan Municipal Board (SMB), the Municipal Financing Corporation of Saskatchewan (MFC) and the municipal sector, developed the criteria and application form for the Saskatchewan Infrastructure Growth Initiative (SIGI). This program initiative was a key component of the government's growth agenda, providing another option to fund municipal infrastructure related to lot development. The program provided municipalities with interest rate subsidies for up to five years on $300 million of municipal borrowing. The borrowing was spread over four years (2008-09 to 2011-12) at $75 million per year. The following table summarizes past deadlines:
