Completed Programs Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP)Program PurposeThe program provides per-capita funding to municipalities to strengthen the provincial economy. Investment in local infrastructure improvements using local contractors is highly encouraged. The provincial funding is not intended to pay down debt, purchase land, lease property or finance administration costs, as these investments do not typically enhance the province's economy. Program Details Municipalities submitted a one-page infrastructure plan with a project list, estimated costs and construction timelines along with a signed funding agreement prior to receiving funding. The deadline for submissions was February 28, 2009. Municipal Affairs reviewed infrastructure plans to ensure they were consistent with program objectives and timelines. The funding agreement, as developed by Municipal Affairs, dictates provincial and municipal responsibilities. Infrastructure Plan Amendments
Funding provided for projects must be expensed by March 31, 2011.
