**The following report shows outcomes of the above named election and ONLY INCLUDES DATA FOR RURAL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS HELD IN 2010 FOR ODD NUMBERED DIVISIONS AND REEVES. It does not reflect any successful challenges, court-ordered removals from office, results not yet received, or by-elections subsequent to the actual election date. If a municipality identifies an error in these results, please contact the Ministry of Municipal Affairs at 306.787.8885.

In 2010, rural municipal elections were held in 296 rural municipalities in Saskatchewan for odd-numbered divisions and reeves. Even-numbered divisions will be voted on in Fall 2011.

The charts, statistics and conclusions that follow were developed using data received from rural municipalities. This report is provided as information only. As of March 31, 2011, Municipal Affairs has received election results from 248/296 (83.8%) rural municipalities.

Total Number of Rural Municipal Officials Elected in 2010

The total number of rural municipal officials elected in 2010 for odd-numbered divisions and reeves is 897, not including results not yet received. This figure is broken down by the following categories in the sections that follow:

  • Gender Representation
  • Newly Elected vs. Incumbent Re-elected
  • Acclamation vs. Elected

Gender Representation

  • 47 of 897 (5.2%) of rural municipal elected officials are female.
  • This marks a 0.1% increase in the number of female elected officials compared to 2008, when 5.1% of rural municipal elected officials were female.

  • 7 of 248 (2.8%) of rural municipal elected reeves (head of council) are female.
  • This marks a 0.2% increase in the number of female elected reeves compared to 2008, when 2.6% of rural municipal elected reeves were female.

Newly Elected vs. Incumbent Re-elected Rural Municipal Officials

  • 194/897 (21.6%) of rural municipal elected officials are newly elected.
  • This marks a 4.1% increase in the number of newly elected officials compared to 2008, when 17.5% of rural municipal elected officials were newly elected.
  • 703/897 (78.4%) of rural municipal elected officials are re-elected.
  • This marks a 4.10% decrease in the number of officials re-elected compared to 2008, when 82.5% of rural municipal elected officials were re-elected.

Acclamations

  • 676/897 (75.4%) of rural municipal elected officials are acclaimed.
  • This marks a 7.1% decrease in the number of acclaimed officials compared to 2008, when 82.5% of rural municipal elected officials were acclaimed.

  • 114/194 (58.8%) of newly elected officials are acclaimed.

  • 562/703 (79.9%) of re-elected officials are acclaimed.
